My Orkut Beta!

Try new Orkut!! is the topical feature for all Orkut users. Not before five years from now, I can count my friends just in fingers. I set off my mind to put a list on all possible friends network of mine since my childhood. School friends, high school friends, street friends, tuition friends, college friends, hostel friends, friends at work I think I am drained now . With the advent of social networking sites like Facebook, Orkut, hi5, tagged etc., all of us have an absolutely colossal friends list. Known friends, anonymous friends, friends with common interest, fans, community friends, friend of friend like this it extends into a serpentine long list. In unimaginable ways you get friends, which sometime includes famous personalities and film celebrities.
I switched to the new orkut version. It took 2 seconds to change. The moment I saw the new orkut I was not greatly surprised. It carried a usual design like any other social networking sites. But it has got more options stacked to its hood resembling your igoogle page.
“More “ tab drops down with a number of applications which you had added before like testimonials, graffiti, music I like, IQ test etc., Only the home page or your profile page shows up the new look whereas other links taking you to respective pages are still with the old version. It might take sometime to get used to this new look of Orkut. The brand image of Orkut website is its blue and pink. I have seen users who have not applied even a theme from Orkut. I think the plain, simple look of Orkut captured the minds of its users . They have also given an option to switch back to your old version. (Definitely to be appreciated). I tried it, it is neither mind blowing nor a disaster. It is just another look. Some may like and some may not. Do I like it???!!!!!!

The recently upgraded orkut beta is still in invite only mode. You need an invitation to activate it. This is mainly to attract more users and to keep existing users from switching to Facebook or other social Networks. You can read more about it here on the official Orkut Blog.
